WHMIS Training (GHS) BC. In BC all employers are required by law (OHSR and Workers Compensation Act) to provide Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) training and instruction to all employees who are in contact with or in close proximity to any materials (hazardous materials) defined as a ‘controlled product’ under the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information legislation. Hazardous materials may cause serious health problems in workers or fires or explosions in the workplace. WHMIS provides information on hazardous products, as defined and described in the federal Hazardous Products Act and Hazardous Products Regulations, so workers can protect themselves. Planning to work with hazardous chemicals in your workplace? WorkSafeBC regulations apply! WHMIS Training BC (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) is a Canada-wide system designed to give employers and workers information about hazardous materials used in the workplace. In BC all employers are required by law to provide WHMIS instruction to all employees who are in contact with and in close proximity to any materials (hazardous chemicals) defined as hazardous products.
